On the evening of February 26, our institute brought together all faculty and students to participate in the "Aiming High for the Nation" ideological and political class. Over 400 students from the "Basic Principles of Marxism" course, along with all members of the 2022 and 2023 cohorts, gathered in classrooms to watch. The sessions on "An Overview of Xi Jinping's Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era," "Ethics and Rule of Law," "An Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and the System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics," "Outline of Modern Chinese History," and "Contemporary World and China," along with graduate political education courses, were viewed synchronously through the People's Web+ mobile app, while other undergraduates watched from their dormitories or study rooms.
During the class, influential figures such as Wang Yanxin, President of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Professor Song Haijun from the School of Earth Sciences, and He Pengfei, a young faculty member from the School of Physical Education, shared their personal "climbing" experiences. They delivered a rich feast of thought, encouraging young students to uphold the spirit of "unity, cooperation, and striving for the peak." They inspired students to dare to dream, chase their dreams actively, and engage diligently in realizing these dreams as part of China's modernization effort.
After the class, faculty and students engaged in discussions centered on the themes of "rooting in China, embracing the world, aim high, and pursuing excellence." The students unanimously felt that this session deepened their understanding of the climbing spirit, helped them gain a clearer understanding of their life goals, and motivated them to adopt an attitude of "climbing peaks" and "pursuing excellence" in their studies and careers, continuously striving for national progress.
