(By Tong Yibo from the School of Economics) In order to have a thorough understanding of the students' ideological trends in the new semester and solicit their opinions and suggestions on study and life, the School of Economics held a symposium for undergraduate student representatives in the spring semester of 2021-2022 academic year in Room 927, Building 15 on the morning of March 1st. Liu Junqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics, counselors and representatives of all grades attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Gao Wujin, the counselor of grade 2019.
At the meeting, student representatives of all grades made speeches, talked about their personal feeling in study and life, and put forward suggestions for the work of the School. The representatives of grade 2021 hoped that the School could continue to strengthen epidemic prevention and control education, carry out innovative online and offline cultural and sports activities, reinforce the guidance of major streaming and increase social practice opportunities；the representatives of grade 2020 suggested that the School continue to enhance the construction of learning style and education of examination style and discipline, increase the supply of self-study places, and carry out academic assistance activities in spare time to create a strong learning atmosphere; the representatives of grade 2021 expected more guidance on some aspects, like postgraduate entrance examination, grassroots employment, job hunting, internship and overseas study, so as to improve the quality of graduates；the representatives of grade 2018, based on their four-year college experience, suggested that the School strengthen the cultivation of computer, mathematics and other basic courses, provide guidance on career planning as early as possible to help students to reasonably formulate career planning blueprint in order to spend a fruitful and meaningful university life.
The counselors of each grade answered and explained the questions raised by the student representatives one by one, hoping that students could communicate with the teachers in time in the new semester to promote the continuous improvement of the School in education, teaching, student management, etc.
In his concluding speech, Liu Junqiang pointed out that the questions raised by the student representatives were objective and true, reflecting the students' pursuit of university life and their care and love for our School and university. He hoped that student representatives could play a bridge role between the School and students, and actively promote mutual understanding between the School and students. He said the School would always put the students’ interests first, “stand together” with the students, try its best to solve students' practical difficulties in life, adhere to the core concept of “three wide education”, vigorously promotes the brand work of “progressing together while studying together” and “helping each other while living together” among the students, and create a good learning and living environment. He stressed that as the epidemic prevention and control was becoming normal, the students need to cultivate their emotion of “Family-country”, sharpen their will, forge their spirits, practice the idea of getting along with each other and helping each other among the students of all nationalities by fighting against epidemic together. He hoped that everyone would cherish their college years, study hard, learn and use their knowledge and talents to serve the society and contribute to the country.
