3 RESEARCH FIELD
My research interests focus on the discovery of novel natural products derived from ethnomedicines, as well as the structural modifications and biological activities of natural products. My research group has conducted studies on the chemical constituents and biological activities of over 30 ethnomedicinal plants, resulting in the isolation and identification of more than 1,500 compounds. These compounds include terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, phenylpropanoids, and saponins, with over 400 new compounds identified from these plants. Prof. Yang has led and participated in the completion of more than 10 research projects, including those funded by the National Major New Drugs Innovation and Development program, the National Key Research and Development, the National Natural Science Foundation, National Key Laboratories, and various provincial and ministerial projects. Additionally, Prof. Yang has received two provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, published over 150 academic papers—more than 70 of which are indexed in the Science Citation Index, and obtained eight Chinese invention patents, along with one clinical approval for an innovative traditional Chinese medicine drug.
